Reading Intervention 1: 2nd-3rd grade (1st & 4th upon evaluation)
Instructor: Emily Williams [email protected]
Tuition and Fees: $35/month tuition plus a one time $25 materials and copy fee
Course Description:
In this level one class, we will typically cover:
Is your child a reluctant or struggling reader? Or, are they slowly developing into a reader, but
could use some extra instruction and practice? This course will help “the lightbulb” turn on and
provide an opportunity for students to build on any previous knowledge they have of phonics,
reading, spelling, and writing to enhance reading abilities. We will utilize the University of Florida Literacy Institute’s UFLI Foundations curriculum. While UFLI is ideal for students with dyslexia,
any young readers will benefit from this instruction! The skills taught in this program drastically
decrease reading, spelling, and pronunciation errors while building reading fluency and
comprehension. Teacher-led instruction uses multisensory lessons to help every student
understand each skill needed to read the English language, and helps struggling students
(including those with dyslexia) build the brain connections needed to make sense of reading.
