Instructor: Sarah Kriwanek
Grade: Kindergarten – Students must be 5 years old on the first day of class
Fees: $70 monthly tuition, PLUS a one-time $40 supply fee to cover snacks, craft supplies, and materials (due with August tuition)
Course material: Tailored language, reading, and math for each student.
Course Description:
This Kindergarten class comes alongside our families and reinforces what is being taught at home. Our class is structured around hands-on centers within the classroom, chosen by the students to focus on logic, fine motor, sensory, construction, and imaginative skills together. We incorporate language arts through Show and Tell time, Hooked on Phonics letter songs, a Bible lesson, and fictional story time. Math is incorporated during calendar time (months of the year, days of the week, counting days, missing calendar numbers, etc.) Each student will also have their own binder for table time. We practice writing our letter of the day, and then students are free to find what they would like to work on within the binder. The categories they have to choose from are Shapes, Numbers, Games, and miscellaneous. The content of these binders changes each month and contains all kinds of fun language arts and math activities, coloring pages, mazes, cut and paste, etc. Weather permitting, we take a break after the first hour of class to go outside and play tag.
A snack is provided each week, and usually coincides with our letter of the day. We are also visited by our resident puppet, Katie, each week. She always has a letter of the day poem and talks to the class about different holidays and current events. The year is also sprinkled with games, crafts, and fun activities based on seasons and holidays.
