High School Human Anatomy and Physiology
Instructor: Heidi Cleveland
Grades: 10th - 12th
Course Fee: $45 monthly tuition (1-1/2 hour class) ($40 per semester lab/supply fee)
Textbook: Apologia Exploring Creation with Advanced Biology: The Human Body 2nd Ed.
Description: Explore the incredible intricacies of the human body through the lens of
faith! High School Human Anatomy and Physiology is designed for high school
students who want to get their hands dirty and experience science in action. This course
approaches the human body as God's perfect design, full of complexities that only He
could create.
As an instructor with a pre-med background and a degree in microbiology, I aim to
foster a genuine passion for science by bridging the gap between scientific discovery
and faith. We will go beyond the drawings of textbooks to explore the reality of
human anatomy through hands-on lab dissections, showcasing the true complexity of
His workmanship. While this course focuses on the structural anatomy, we will also
explore the vital physiological functions that keep us alive.
But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all
the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8 (ESV):
Class Structure: Classes meet once a week for one hour. The structure is flexible,
designed to maximize hands-on application, experiments, and dissection.
Homework & Accountability: To maximize our in-person lab time, students will be
required to complete homework to prepare for the weekly activity. Homework will consist
of reading, watching instructional videos, or completing diagrams to ensure students
arrive ready to participate. Expect a workload typical of a rigorous high school Anatomy
and Physiology course taken in a traditional school setting (approximately 3-5 hours per
week).
Notes:
  • This course has a $80 per year ($40 per semester) supply and lab fee due at the
  • beginning of the school year/semester.
