Elementary Spanish I
Instructor: Cindi Cartwright
Prerequisites: none
Grade Level: 4th-6th
Fees: $35 month PLUS ? (still deciding on curriculum)
I’ll be using either Spanish for Children I from Classical Academic Press or a theme pack from Spanish-For-You (or possibly both!). Either way, we’ll be using a bit of a conversational approach while also learning how to conjugate verbs and construct sentences. We will talk and play games in class—and perhaps even sing! I plan on some teaching of Hispanic life and culture as well. Students will need to work on their Spanish at home for at least 20 minutes four times a week, with rewards in class for doing so. Successfully completing this class and Elementary Spanish II (which I expect to begin offering next year) would be the equivalent of High School Spanish I. Nerly Ovrebo, who is currently teaching High School Spanish is ready to begin teaching High School Spanish III as soon as we have students ready for it! Let’s work together to raise up some children who are truly bilingual.
