About the Course
Students will learn principals of speaking and various formats of debate including Lincoln Douglas and Parliamentary. Speech types include everything from a business presentation form like expository to dramatic or humorous interpretation. Students are given a well-rounded understanding of not just events in which they can compete, but what formats allow them to express their unique voice. Students are not required to compete to take the class. However, speaking practice for events like impromptu will give students benefits in how to think on their feet. Preparation for in class or tournament presentations promote student’s critical thinking skills, writing and research ability, Biblical literacy, creativity, teamwork, analytics, and awareness of current events in an enjoyable, active and positive learning environment.
