About the Course
This class is an introduction to the world of Graphic Design. In this class we will be learning about graphic design, its unique way of thinking, some of its history, and how it impacts the world around us. We will be learning the principles and elements of design and how to think like a designer in a world where there is no box. We will also talk about different career fields in the world of graphic design as there are many options here. Students will be expected to work on assigned projects outside of class time to be brought back to class for critique and discussion. We will be using laptops in class and students will occasionally be assigned research using google image searches. Various ways of using brainstorming will be explored in class and assigned for projects.
For this class, the student will need an ink pen (no pencils), a sketchbook, and their laptop in class each week. These supplies are absolute requirements. Students are welcome to use their laptops to create their projects with whatever free drawing, sketching, photo editing software they are comfortable with using. Adobe products are not free but are industry standard and the preferred software.
Note: This is not an art class and students do not need to have art skills to be effective in this class. Those skills are helpful, but not a requirement
