Students should come with a 3 ring binder with notebook paper. We will be using information from various sources to learn the geography and cultural information as well as selections from Christian Heroes Then and Now to learn about people God has used in various regions around the world.
Course Description: This class will travel the globe learning to identify countries and continents on a map and exploring different cultures through things like language and food. We will also be highlighting people used by the Lord in domestic or foreign missions throughout the year. Students will have an opportunity to showcase knowledge of a specific country/region through a class presentation as well.
Instructor Background:
I am the wife of Caio Franca and homeschool mom to Laura (13), Natalie (12), and Judah França (less than 1). We will begin our 4th year homeschooling in the 2024/2025 school year. We also have the blessing of being an intercultural home with Caio being a native Brazilian and speaking both English and Brazilian Portuguese in the home
During my time working outside the home I spent a decade in International Education at the University level. I traveled and worked with International students from all over the world; recruiting students for the University and helping the students acculturate to college life in the US, and maintain their immigration status once they arrived. I also worked with American students who desired to travel abroad and helped them prepare for their international experiences.
