College Essay and Prep Class
11-12th Graders
Jana Loose; [email protected]
(425)232-7423
Monthly Tuition $35/month
Supply Fee: $10/semester for copies
This class will incorporate readings as well as multiple types of essays for college preparation.
We will also be spending time on different types of research papers. I will endeavor to
incorporate a more collegiate atmosphere as well as expectations for the students. The goal is
to prepare them for the collegiate classroom and expectations of professors. I will prepare a
syllabus for the student that will be similar to that of an English Comp class. There will be high
expectations for timeliness and quality of work, much like a college classroom.
We will have a variety of readings, mostly short stories, and will use these to analyze themes,
literary devices, etc.
The grading in this class will also look more like a college classroom. However, as the
homeschooling parent, you are in charge of the transcript, and you know your student. I will
grade based on the level of work. You have the freedom to adjust accordingly.
I am looking for an anthology for short stories, much like a Morton’s or the like. I’ll email parents
when I’ve found one that isn’t too pricy.
